Why Are Celebrities Being Blocked and Boycotted? 🤔 #Celebrity #Model #Influencer #StreetCents

Why are so many celebrities and influencers getting blocked and being put on boycott lists? Blockout 2024 has taken over our feeds. It was mainly the Met Gala that started this—people were upset about the injustices occurring around the world – especially in the Middle East. And there’s an expectation for people with big platforms to take a stand and help bring change by using their voice. There are a lot of opinions and feelings around this … but we’re sticking to facts. The idea is if enough people block a celebrity, it’ll impact upcoming brand deals, public appearances, views, engagement—hit them where it hurts most: the money they earn. But is blocking an effective form of boycotting? Like, let’s say a million people are willing to block. Would it be more impactful to target a few specific celebs vs. splitting across a list of hundreds? And take Billie Eilish as an example. She wore a ceasefire pin to the Oscars. Is that enough to take her off the list? Who decides? Then again, this did get Lizzo to speak out. And Taylor Swift reportedly lost 300,000 followers on TikTok. Detrimental for a small account … but not sure that’s a big deal to her. So, do you think this blockout will ultimately lead to change?
